Little Hoopsters B-Ball Leauge
(1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade League)
This league is designed to give the young player an opportunity to learn the game of basketball in a safe environment. Each child will be placed on a team with weekly games and practices.  Games are played using an intermediate sized ball and 8 1/2 inch rims
CO-ED KARATE FOR YOUTH
(7 - 14 years)
Beginner and Advanced Beginner Isshinryu Karate. Learn self defense, self discipline and self control. Instructor Carl Upshaw has a Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate and has studied for over 20 years. Wear comfortable clothing, no foot attire. Bring a notebook and pencil. All karate instruction will be at the Youth Center.
Little Puck Hockey
Little Puck Hockey provides players, ages 5 to 9 years old, with a fun experience while keeping competition in perspective. With strict adherence to the rules of floor hockey, the main emphasis is on good sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play and fun! Each week will consist of a 30 minute group warm-up followed by 30 minutes of game play. Children should wear play clothes and sneakers. The YMCA will provide all floor hockey equipment: hockey sticks, hockey pucks and goals. Participants are required to bring a helmet.


FLAG FOOTBALL
Flag Football is a fun program that creates an environment the entire family can enjoy. It promotes physical fitness and teaches youngsters valuable football lessons about teamwork and fair play. Flag Football emphasizes the basic football skills of passing, catching, defending, and running. Players also learn about formations, pass patterns, and different types of defense. Don’t miss out on the first Flag Football class for boys and girls!


Biddy Boys I
Biddy Boys is designed for children ages 4 through 7 years old and encourages team work, team play, and lots of fun through an array of different games. Games played will help teach the skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, court awareness, defense and rebounding. Players will become acquainted with the skills needed to be more successful in the game of basketball and have the opportunity to improve upon those skills throughout the year. This program consists of six 45 minute sessions.
GIRLS BASKETBALL -
INSTRUCTIONAL I

(5 - 9 years)
Designed for the beginner, this program will introduce the sport of basketball in a fun and logical order.
GIRLS JR. HIGH BASKETBALL LEAGUE
(7th & 8th grades)
This league will provide girls an opportunity to play in a safe and fun environment. All new and returning participants must register.
Champions
(11 - 12 years)
Level III is designed for the older beginner who needs to refine his/her skills. Further emphasis will be placed on team play and rules.
Rookies
(8 - 10 years)
Designed for the intermediate young beginner and will continue to work on basic skills and introduce team play and rules.
Start Smart Soccer (3-5 years)

Start Smart Soccer is a fun instructional program that helps parents work one-on-one with their children while teaching them basics of soccer: kicking, dribbling, trapping, throw ins, and running. The program will help children prepare for organized soccer by using safe fun equipment to teach them basic motor skills.


Start Smart Basketball (3-5 years)

Start Smart Basketball is an instructional program that helps parents one-on-one with their children while teaching them the basics of basketball. This program will stress dribbling/ball handling, shooting, passing/catching, and running/agility. This program is designed as a stepping stone to organized basketball by using safe and fun equipment to teach them the basic motor skills.

 


4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Holy Family Academy/ Y Basketball Leauge

The YMCA/YWCA of Hazleton will be forming a 4th, 5th and 6th grade basketball league for boys and girls. All participants must be in fourth, fifth or sixth grade. Individuals will be placed on a team of Junior Varsity and Varsity levels and volunteer coaches will be used. The league will run games strictly on Wednesday nights at 6:30 & 7:30 and Sunday Afternoons at 1:30 & 2:30. Any players participating in this league will be eligible for our tournament team. Winter Girls Junior High Basketball League (7th & 8th Grades)

Participants can start registering November 10th for this fun and non-competitive basketball league. Games will be played on Sundays beginning December 7, 2008. Teams can sign up or individuals will be placed on a team.
