PRESCHOOL AQUATICS CLASSES
Preschoolers in the PoolThe first half of the SKIPPERS Program, otherwise noted as “SKIP”, is a parent/child water acclimation course focusing on providing a positive parent-child experience while learning water safety and beginning swimming skills through games and songs. This program is grouped by age, not ability, and independent growth is highly encouraged and supported. A parent or guardian must accompany the child in the water.

SHRIMP / KIPPER / INIA (6-30 months w/parent)
PERCH (30 mo. – 5 years w/parent)

PIKE – LEVEL 1 (3-5 years w/out parent)
EEL – LEVEL 2 (3-5 years w/out parent)
RAY – LEVEL 3 (3-5 years w/out parent)
STARFISH – LEVEL 4 (3 – 5 years w/out parent)
 
SWIM LESSONS:
The YMCA was the very first organization to open a pool in 1885, and in 1887 they began to teach swimming.

Our National YMCA accredited program teaches personal safety, stroke development, water sports and games, personal growth and rescue.
POLLIWOG / LEVEL 1 / BEGINNER (6-12 years)
GUPPY / LEVEL 2 / INTERMED. BEGINNER (6-12 years)
MINNOW / LEVEL 3 / ADVANCED BEGINNER (6-12 years)
FISH/LEVEL 4 / INTERMEDIATE (6-12 years)
FLYING FISH / LEVEL 5 / ADV. INTERMED. (8-15 years)
SHARK / LEVEL 6 / ADVANCED (8-15 years)
BIDDY BARACUDAS (6-13 years)
Interested in competitive swimming, but not ready to commit to the swim team? Biddy Barracudas will introduce the basics of competitive swimming such as starts, flip-turns and the four competitive strokes – butterfly, back stroke, breast stroke, and freestyle. This course is highly recommended, but not required, for anyone interested in joining the HAZY Barracuda Swim Team. Prerequisite for class: completion of Guppy or comparable skills.
HAZY CO-ED SWIM TEAM (5-18 years)
Swimmers should have completed the Guppy swimming level at the Y, or be able to swim length of the pool without assistance. Swimmers will be taught the four competitive strokes – free style, back stroke, breast stroke and butterfly, as well as the proper starts, turns and finishes. Every swimmer participates in every meet they attend. Practice has begun but there is still time to register! Practice schedules available at Front Desk.
